My First Wedding of 2026! | Emma & Paul – The Municipal Hotel, Liverpool

WOW… what a way to kick off my 2026 wedding season!

Emma and Paul celebrated their wedding at the stunning Municipal Hotel in Liverpool, and I had the absolute pleasure of performing as their wedding breakfast singer. What a start to the year it was.

This was actually my first time stepping foot inside Liverpool’s only 5-star hotel, and it completely lived up to expectations. Considering it is practically on my doorstep, it was about time I paid a visit. From the moment I arrived, the service was exceptional. A special shoutout to the lovely doorman who helped me with my gear and pointed me in the right direction.

The venue itself is nothing short of breathtaking, and the team made everything run so seamlessly behind the scenes. That always makes such a difference as a supplier.

Emma and Paul held their ceremony in the same room as their wedding breakfast, so as I was booked for the latter, I waited nearby while the ceremony wrapped up. Even without seeing the service itself, I could already tell this was going to be a lively crowd.

I caught a glimpse of the couple as they exited the ceremony. What a gorgeous pair. If I was not already excited to perform, I definitely was at that point.

After a quick chat with the coordinators, I loaded in my gear while the room was being turned around. These behind the scenes transformations are always so impressive. Watching a team completely flip a room in such a short space of time is like watching magic happen.

Once I was set up, soundchecked, and very importantly swapped into my performance shoes, I was ready for guests to be seated.

As a Liverpool wedding singer, I always prepare a backup Spotify playlist tailored to each couple’s music taste. It is one of those little touches that helps set the atmosphere from the moment guests arrive, and on this occasion, it definitely did its job.

I have never seen a wedding breakfast atmosphere kick off before guests had even sat down. Each guest had a personalised tambourine waiting at their seat, which was such a fun and unique idea. Before long, everyone was already playing along to the background music.

At that moment, I knew I was in for a proper party.

During our consultation, Emma and Paul told me they wanted an upbeat wedding breakfast, but nothing forced, because let’s be honest, no one enjoys forced fun. I can safely say there was absolutely nothing forced about this crowd.

Their entrance song was A Little Respect by Erasure, a song their friends and family associate with them, which made it all the more special. When I got the nod from the coordinators, I gathered the guests and got them ready to welcome the newlyweds.

And wow, the room went wild.

Hands down one of the best wedding breakfast entrances I have seen. Between the cheering and the tambourines, I could barely hear myself, but that is what I am here for. Let’s just say the volume went up slightly from soundcheck levels.

The couple chose to have speeches before the meal, so I kept the energy high with a couple of songs before handing over. The speeches were beautiful and almost had me in tears, something I may need to work on. Wedding speeches get me every time.

I managed the sound throughout before handing back over to the venue team as food was served. From there, I brought things down slightly and moved into some more acoustic, stripped back songs from the couple’s chosen setlist.

But even with food in front of them, guests were still singing, clapping, and of course tambourining along. The energy never dropped and I loved every second of it.

After some heartfelt singalongs during starters and mains, by the time dessert came around, even I was up on the chairs, with guests dancing in the limited space around the tables.

I think I can confidently say we all had a ball.

As I wrapped up and thanked the couple and their guests, the groom came over and asked if he could say a few words. As he did, I overheard someone in the crowd quietly say, “Go on, do us a song…”

To which he replied that unless Angels by Robbie Williams came on, he would be keeping quiet.

Little did he know, I always have Angels up my sleeve. Do not ask why, it is just always the perfect encore.

After a quick side eye to the groom, before we knew it, the whole room had arms around each other, singing Angels at the top of their lungs, with the bride and groom right in the middle of it all.

What a moment.

Completely unplanned and totally improvised, but honestly one of those magical moments that you just cannot recreate. Something I am sure everyone in that room will remember for a very long time.

If you are reading this and feeling slightly nervous about booking a wedding singer for your wedding breakfast, do not worry. Moments like this happen naturally and are always led by the couple and the atmosphere in the room.

But if you are reading this and thinking “I want that to be us”, just know I will always gently egg you on.

After that, my trusty playlist returned as guests gathered their things and began heading off to their evening venue, Brunch and Cocktail Club on Duke Street.

Although I would say to get the party started, I think we had already well and truly ticked that box.

Emma and Paul, thank you so much for having me and for giving me the most incredible start to my 2026 wedding season. What a day.
